FAQ

Q: How many hens will this feed?

A: Each sachet will feed up to 4-6 hens as a supplement to their normal diet. A little goes a long way.

Q: Do chickens like porridge?

A: Yes! It’s a great winter treat on cold mornings. Most hens love it. Feed no more than 3 times a week.

Q: How do I prepare it?

A: Add hot water to cover the oats, stir well, then leave to cool for 10 minutes. Stir again before serving. Never feed while too hot.

Q: Why is ginger important for my chickens?

A: Ginger aids strong, healthy feather growth, which is especially valuable after the autumn moult. It also supports circulation and overall wellness during colder months.

Q: My hens are moulting — is this the right product?

A: Yes! Ginger Nut is ideal during and after moult. The combination of protein (peanuts + seeds) and ginger specifically supports feather regrowth and recovery during this stressful season.

Q: What makes peanuts different from other protein sources?

A: Natural peanuts provide high plant-based protein that helps maintain muscle strength and body condition. They’re an excellent complement to regular feed for energy and recovery.

Q: Can I give this to young chickens?

A: No. Not suitable for hens younger than 4 months. Start with regular starter crumbs until they reach 4 months.

Q: Is this a replacement for regular feed?

A: No. This is a complementary treat, never replace a complete pellet feed (Layers or Growers).

Q: What makes this a winter product?

A: Rolling oats provide slow-release energy for warmth. Ginger aids feather growth during post-moult recovery. Peanut protein supports body condition when natural foraging is limited.

Q: Can I use cold water instead of hot?

A: You can, but hot water helps oats soften properly. Cold water takes much longer.

Q: How long does one sachet last?

A: One sachet provides one serving for 4-6 hens (approximately 50gm per serving).

Q: Is this hand-made?

A: Yes. All Forager treat bags are hand-made to order by Pipinchick Poultry. Allow 24 hours from payment to dispatch.
