At Pipinchick we don’t believe in putting healthy hens down just because they don’t conform to a strict breed standard, we want to give all healthy hens a chance for a loving home no matter their appearance.

Our ‘Imperfectly Perfect’ ladies are all gorgeous girls from the same parent stock as the others, they are vaccinated and cared for in exactly the same way and make lovely garden buddies and pets.

Some common defects you might find with one of our special ladies:

(All are aesthetic and will cause no long term issues).

  • Less or no feathers on their legs and feet.
  • Smaller or bald pom-poms (these feathers do usually grow back in time).
  • Slightly wonky beaks (we would never send a cross-beak hen without first checking).
  • Wonky toes or less than 5.
  • Long legs or necks and masculine body shapes.
  • They may be older ex breeding hens

Compatibility

Silkies although suited to our British climate prefer to stay dry, their soft feathers have no natural waterproofing, a covered run would be ideal. They have feathered feet so foot maintenance in the winter is important, they would not be happy in a wet or muddy environment. They are robust when being handled by children and make great pets. They are a flightless bird so will need a house near or on the ground, they do not like to climb or roost.

Delivery for Chickens

Delivery/Collection
We offer a local collection for your hens and we can also deliver chickens to your door across most of the mainland U.K.

Nationwide collection points are coming soon.

Delivery.

  • All deliveries are completed by our own poultry team who have DEFRA poultry
    moving licences, we do not use 3 rd party couriers.
  • No multi farm pickups or drop offs to maintain bio security.
  • 100% accountability for the health and wellbeing of your hens on their journey.
  • Once you have placed your order our team will contact you by email to offer you a delivery date, if this date is not convenient we will then look to offer another.

Delivery Prices.
£3.50 Local Delivery, within 15 miles of BS40 6AX
£60 Mainland UK Delivery (nothing north of Perth)
£84 Southern Scotland (we cannot deliver higher than Perth).

Simply select which option you would like at checkout, all prices include VAT.

Nationwide deliveries are subject to order numbers. Delivery is usually within 10-14 days, please do not order until you are ready to receive the hens.

Collection for Chickens

Collection Options.

  1. You can arrange to collect your hens either locally to our farm at BS40 6AX. Local collection will be arranged post purchase, we will contact you by email to arrange a date and time convenient for you within our working hours, we do not offer collections on Sundays.
  2. Nationwide Collections are currently being organised and will be available soon.
