Rumples Araucana are a busy breed, they like to free roam and forage, they can be suited to smaller spaces but would need lots of grass time or run enrichment, they can fly and enjoy perching and would love a chicken swing, they will need a secure enclosure when you’re not around. They will be happy with you in the garden, but can get destructive and pecky when bored, prolonged periods of confinement would not be good without lots of room and run enrichment. They are able to climb ladders and ramps and like to roost at night.

The Rumples Araucana originates from the Araucia Indians of Northern Chile. There are two distinct breeds; the Rumples Araucana and the Araucana. Many people confuse the two, due to both laying blue eggs, but they are separate breeds. The Rumples has no tail or parsons nose and are best known for their facial feathering (tufts). They are good laying hens offering up to 180 medium spearmint blue eggs a year, they have an average life expectancy of about 8 years.
